Newborn Photography in Buffalo MO: What to Expect
There is something so special about bringing a brand new baby home that makes time feel like it's moving at completely different speeds. One minute you're pregnant and wondering what they'll look like, and the next you're staring at this tiny little person you've waited so long to meet.
Those first few weeks are exhausting, beautiful, emotional, messy, and honestly... a little bit of a blur. And that's exactly why I love newborn photography.

When should you book your newborn session?
I recommend reaching out during your pregnancy, ideally sometime during your second or third trimester. We'll get your session on the calendar around your due date and then adjust once your baby arrives.
Babies don't exactly follow calendars, so there's no need to stress if your little one decides to arrive early or late!
How old should my baby be?
I typically love photographing newborns during those first few weeks when they're still so tiny and sleepy.
The wrinkly toes.
The tiny fingers.
The sleepy stretches.
The way they curl right up against you.
But if your baby is a little older, please don't think you've missed your chance. There is something beautiful about every stage, and I would much rather photograph your baby a little later than not at all. Some times, things happen. Life gets busy, NICU time is needed, etc. You didn't miss your chance.
What is a newborn session like?
If you've never had newborn photos taken before, you may be wondering what you're supposed to do.
The answer is: you don't have to know!
I will send you a full prep guide before your session. During your session, I'll guide you through each portion and we will take our time. There will be plenty of opportunities for feeding, diaper changes, cuddles, and settling your baby.
Some babies sleep through everything, while some have FOMO and are wide awake.
Some want to be held while others are content laid down.
Some have very strong opinions about the whole photography thing. 😂
It's all okay.
Your baby doesn't have to perform for their newborn photos. We will work with them, on their terms.
And mama, you need to be in the pictures, too.
I know you might not feel completely like yourself after having a baby.
Maybe you're tired. Maybe you're not feeling confident in your body yet.
But your baby won't look back at these photographs and see any of those things.
They'll see their mama.
The arms that held them.
The face they stared at while they learned the world.
The person who loved them before they even knew what love was.
So yes, we'll photograph all of those tiny baby details. But we'll photograph you, too.
Because this isn't just the beginning of your baby's story.
It's the beginning of a whole new chapter for your family.
